A Couple Attacked in Their Home - The Hooded Suspect: "Not for the Madam, I Just Need Money"

A couple was attacked in their home - The hooded suspect stated, "Not for the Madam, I just need money."

On the morning of November 3, 2025, a couple was jolted awake by an intruder in their home on Monseigneur Leen Street, Port-Louis. The assailant, wearing a hood, fought with the homeowner before binding the couple and stealing Rs 100,000 in cash along with their utility vehicle, valued at approximately Rs 1.3 million. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Albion, but the suspect remains at large. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage to track him down.

This was a night the victims will not soon forget. Around 2 AM, while they were sound asleep, the intruder entered their house quietly and approached their bedroom. The wife woke up suddenly, seeing the silhouette of the intruder, and screamed in panic.

"When I saw this individual, I screamed," the victim told police officers at Line Barracks. Her cries woke her husband, who rushed to protect their home and confronted the burglar.

During the struggle, both men fell to the ground. At that moment, the intruder pulled out a hammer from his bag and shouted, "Not for the Madam, I just need money!" Under threat, the husband had to back off. The suspect then proceeded to the house's safe and stole Rs 100,000.

Before fleeing, he bound the couple's hands with plastic ties and locked them in the bathroom, then escaped in their vehicle valued at Rs 1.3 million. Although the couple was traumatized, they were not physically harmed.

Terrified, the victims managed to free themselves shortly after and alerted the police. The house lacked security cameras, but information about the stolen vehicle was quickly broadcasted nationwide.

Thanks to the police operations center's tips, the vehicle was found hours later, abandoned at Canot, Albion, near the public beach, with the keys left inside. During the search, investigators discovered Rs 34,000, a pair of sunglasses, and a syringe inside the vehicle.

The investigation, led by the CID Metro South with support from the forensic police, continues to identify and apprehend the perpetrator of this nighttime assault. Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of prior surveillance, as the individual likely took advantage of the lack of fencing and security measures around the home.
