"The Night at Heart" by Nathacha Appanah Wins the 2025 Femina Prize
"The Night at Heart" by Nathacha Appanah continues to make waves. The work has just received the 2025 Femina Prize, joining a pantheon now consisting of 34 authors.
Established in 1904, the Femina Prize is an honorary literary award, created as a counter-proposal to the Goncourt Prize.
In "The Night at Heart," Nathacha Appanah tells the story of three women who are victims of domestic violence. Two of them have died, while the third, the author herself, managed to escape from her abuser.
The novel, published by Gallimard, is also a contender for the Goncourt Prize, with the winner to be announced on Tuesday. Other nominees include Emmanuel Carrère for "Kolkhoze" (P.O.L) and Laurent Mauvignier for "The Empty House" (Minuit).
