Controversial Landing of a Private Jet in Mauritius: Malagasy Group Sodiat Aviation Provides Clarifications
The controversial landing of a private jet in Mauritius continues to provoke strong reactions. The Malagasy group Sodiat Aviation has sought to clarify the circumstances under which one of its aircraft made a private flight to Plaisance Airport on the night of October 11.
In a statement, the company indicated that the flight, operated by Trans Ocean Airways, had been duly declared as an unpaid Private Flight. It clarified that no other requests, particularly for a medical evacuation, had been submitted to the authorities.
Sodiat Aviation explained that the jet's hasty departure from Ivato Airport in Madagascar was prompted by the presence of armed individuals on the tarmac, a situation considered threatening to the safety of passengers and crew. For safety reasons, the captain decided to take off without waiting for official clearance from the Mauritian authorities, whom he had allegedly contacted twice.
The company emphasized that the flight maintained constant contact with air traffic control throughout the journey and reported no technical incidents. While awaiting landing permission, the aircraft had to wait offshore for a significant period. Clearance was finally granted at 10:32 PM, allowing the plane to land safely at Plaisance.
Through this statement, Sodiat Aviation aims to clear up any uncertainties and restore the truth regarding this episode.
