Trump Says an International Force Will Be Deployed "Very Soon" to Gaza

Donald Trump stated on Thursday that an international force would be deployed "very soon" to Gaza, following the announcement by the United States of a draft resolution to the UN Security Council aimed at supporting the American president's peace plan.

"Very soon. It's going to happen very soon. And things are going well in Gaza," Trump replied to a journalist's question regarding the announced deployment of such a force in the Palestinian territory, which is facing a precarious humanitarian situation nearly a month after a truce between Israel and Hamas came into effect.

"We have several countries that have volunteered to intervene in case of problems with Hamas, for example, or for any other issues," he added during a press exchange on the sidelines of a diplomatic meeting at the White House with Central Asian leaders.

The United States presented a draft resolution to partner countries on Wednesday meant to support Trump's peace plan in Gaza, including the deployment of an international force.

Ambassador Mike Waltz convened the ten elected members of the Council and several regional partners (Egypt, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey), according to the US mission to the UN, noting that this demonstrated "regional support" for this text.

According to diplomatic sources, several countries have already expressed their readiness to participate in this stabilization force (ISF), including Indonesia, but they insist on a mandate from the Security Council to actually deploy troops in the Palestinian territory.

This force is outlined in the agreement that led to a fragile ceasefire on October 10, after two years of devastating war triggered by Hamas's attack.

Under the terms of this agreement, the force will consist mainly of a coalition of Arab and Muslim countries and will be deployed to Gaza to oversee security as the Israeli military withdraws.
