A Drowning at La Preneuse and Human Remains at Flic-en-Flac: Police Investigates Several Troubling Leads

The lifeless body of 35-year-old Rajiv Dyal was found on Monday in the lagoon of La Preneuse. This resident of Rose-Hill was retrieved by the National Coast Guard (NCG) from Rivière-Noire. An autopsy conducted by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, the Principal Police Medical Officer, concluded that he died from asphyxiation due to drowning.

However, several intriguing elements have caught the attention of investigators. The victim's vehicle was found parked behind the police station in Flic-en-Flac, several kilometers away from where his body was recovered. Why would Rajiv Dyal leave his car there before ending up in La Preneuse?

According to an initial hypothesis, he might have encountered difficulties at sea before being swept away by currents. To shed light on this mystery, the police reviewed surveillance footage from the area. The footage shows that Rajiv was not alone on the day he left his vehicle; he was accompanied by an unidentified man.

Investigators are now scrutinizing the Safe City cameras around the police station and checking the list of missing persons in the area. However, no official missing person report has been filed so far.

The investigation took an unexpected turn on Wednesday afternoon when a human leg was discovered in the lagoon of Flic-en-Flac, spotted by bathers. The remains have been transferred to the morgue at Victoria Hospital for forensic analysis and DNA sampling.

At this time, authorities do not know if these remains belong to Rajiv Dyal or another individual. Investigators are proceeding cautiously and are not ruling out any leads in this case, which remains shrouded in mystery for now.
