Investigation into the seizure of Rs 185 million worth of hashish: Covila Ramdin Nagen arrested after 20 days on the run
For 20 days, since October 17, the officers from the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (ADSU) at the airport had been pursuing a woman named Covila Ramdin Nagen. This 31-year-old is believed to be connected to a hashish seizure valued at Rs 185 million. The drug was intercepted on October 15 at Plaisance Airport from two British nationals, Thomas Lea Munro (29) and Sinead Hart (22). They were apprehended by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) and ADSU officers upon their arrival from Paris, France.
After the drug seizure, the two British individuals agreed to participate in a "Controlled Delivery" operation to trace the alleged masterminds behind the importation of 37.1 kilograms of "green gold." ADSU officers guided them to a hotel in Blue-Bay, where they indicated that the delivery was to take place. Subsequently, two men, later identified as Roshan Ramdin, a resident of Allée Bambous in Montagne Ory, and Kenny Seerungun, living on Bash Lane in Cité Trèfles, arrived to collect the imported drugs. The police confirmed their identities before proceeding with their arrest.
Quickly, their scheme was unveiled. Investigators learned that the two suspects were also staying at the same hotel. Accompanied by their wives, each had booked two rooms: numbers 105 and 106. Searches were conducted in these rooms. In the one occupied by the couple Roshan and Covila Nagen Ramdin, police discovered Rs 45,500, 35 euros, ten cannabis seeds, heroin, two pregabalin pills (psychotropics), and three mobile phones.
Untraceable
During interrogation, Roshan Ramdin stated that the money belonged to his wife, Covila Nagen Ramdin. However, at that moment, she was untraceable within the hotel premises. In Kenny Seerungun's room, investigators seized Rs 8,950 and two mobile phones.
Since the search on October 17, 2025, ADSU has been actively looking for Covila Nagen Ramdin without success. She finally reappeared on Wednesday, November 5, when she showed up at the Mahébourg court to meet her husband. It was then that she was arrested by ADSU officers.
Since that Wednesday, she has been held at the Sodnac police station. Anti-drug investigators are deepening their inquiries to determine the role of the trio Roshan Ramdin / Covila Nagen Ramdin / Kenny Seerungun in this case of hashish importation between England and Mauritius.
Roshan Ramdin's assets are currently under investigation by ADSU, which plans to submit a report to the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) soon.
