[20th Anniversary of the Muslim Ladies Council] Honoring Three Women

The Muslim Ladies Council (MLC) held a recognition ceremony last Monday at the Port Louis Municipality, attended by former President Cassam Uteem, Lord Mayor Aslam Hossenally, Minister Reza Uteem, and several other dignitaries.

Three members of the MLC were honored: Abida Alladee for her historic appointment as the first female president of the Urdu Speaking Union, Nazemounebie Sobdar for her election as a municipal councilor, and Wasilah Théa for earning her degree in computer science.

The ceremony also featured testimonies from Nadrah Aumeer and Mushiirah Aubdool, who claimed they were dismissed by ENS Africa (Mauritius) due to wearing the veil. The MLC has initiated a petition regarding this matter.

The event commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the organization with a Quran recitation, official speeches, and a poem in Urdu.
