Ramgoolam: "Anyone involved in the Ravatomanga case will pay the price; I will spare no one"
Ramgoolam: "Anyone involved in the Ravatomanga case will pay the price; I will spare no one." This was the warning issued by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam in response to a Private Notice Question (PNQ) from opposition leader Joe Lesjongard in Parliament on Tuesday, November 11.
The question pertained to the landing at Plaisance Airport of a private jet from Trans Ocean Airways, arriving from Madagascar.
Joe Lesjongard inquired whether the police and the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) had opened an investigation and if any government member—specifically a Junior Minister—had participated in the mission to bring Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga to Mauritius.
The opposition leader also mentioned a possible influence peddling valued at Rs 350 million, as well as a meeting between an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Nasser Osman Beekhy, one of the main suspects arrested in this case.
Navin Ramgoolam categorically dismissed these allegations, calling them "completely false" and asserting that they were propagated by "those hoping to regain power."
The head of government assured that there would be no cover-up regarding the Ravatomanga case.
At this stage, 32 witnesses have been questioned and 52 statements recorded in the investigation.
