The Mare D'Albert Swimming Pool Reopens

The Mare D'Albert swimming pool, fully renovated, reopened its doors on Sunday, November 9, in line with the commitment made by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Deven Nagalingum. This reopening was eagerly anticipated by the youth and the swimming community, as the facility had been inactive for a long time due to the previous government's negligence.

"This project was very important to me. It was one of the first facilities I visited after my appointment, and I must say I was appalled by its condition. We mobilized all resources at the ministry to restore it. It took us longer than expected because the work turned out to be more extensive than we thought. Today, the transformed pool reopens its doors, regaining its former glory. I am happy, especially for the swimmers who have been eagerly waiting for this moment. Other facilities, which have been completely neglected and lacking maintenance for several years, are also undergoing renovations and will soon be operational. We are doing everything possible for the community to practice sports in the best conditions," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ritesh Ramphul, expressed his gratitude for the swift and effective action taken in this matter, praising the mobilization of resources despite their limitations: "I also thank Minister Nagalingum for his commitment to sports development and youth."

Tony Apollon, the deputy for constituency number 12, celebrated the restoration of the pool, highlighting that it meets the expectations of swimming enthusiasts in the South and urged for responsible use of the facility to support the emergence of new talents.

His running mate, Kevin Lukeeram, reminded everyone of the importance of sports as a preventive factor against drug addiction and emphasized the ministry's determination to promote its practice in the region.
