Melrose Prison: Seizure of Cigarettes and Mobile Phones

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, a significant seizure occurred at the high-security Melrose Prison. A prison officer intercepted seven plastic bottles that were thrown over the prison walls.

Inside, authorities discovered 1,030 cigarettes, eight mobile phones, several electronic accessories, and seven SIM cards. Three masked individuals, spotted on the roof of the Talipot section, were reportedly involved in this operation before fleeing the scene.

The SIM cards were handed over to the police for investigation purposes. The remaining seized items have been sealed in the prison as part of the ongoing police and internal investigations.
