Police (Amendment) Bill: Navin Ramgoolam: "We Are Correcting Past Mistakes"
The Police (Amendment) Bill, which was presented on Tuesday at the National Assembly, is described as both "urgent and historic" by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. This bill is part of the government program for 2025-2029, which aims to modernize institutions, enhance the capabilities of law enforcement, rebuild public trust, and address the shortcomings that have hampered police investigations and undermined the country’s justice system, he stated.
