Official Visit to Mauritius: Several Strategic Agreements on Emmanuel Macron's Agenda

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, will make an official visit to Mauritius on November 20 and 21, 2025. During this visit, he will pay a courtesy call to the President of the Republic of Mauritius and hold a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. He will also visit the Plastic Odyssey ship and the Champlain Vessel.

Throughout his stay, he will meet with Mauritian and French business operators in the field of artificial intelligence, give a joint press statement with the Prime Minister, and inaugurate the new French Embassy in Telfair, Moka.

Expected Agreements and Statements:

• Cooperation on the blue economy between the Ministry of Blue Economy and the Research Institute for Development, covering marine biology, biotechnology, genomics, aquaculture, combating illegal fishing, physical oceanography, and satellite imaging.

• Partnership agreement FEXTE between the Government of Mauritius, the French Development Agency (AFD), and Electricité de France to enhance the integration of renewable energies, modernize the dispatching system, and develop partnerships with the island of Réunion.

• Sustainable water management: a declaration of intent between Mauritius, the AFD, and the European Union, aligned with the Government Program 2025-2029 and the Marshall Plan for water, aimed at modernizing infrastructure and improving resource governance.

• Energy transition: a declaration of intent between Mauritius, the AFD, and the European Union to accelerate the energy transition, enhance renewable energy production, and improve energy efficiency.

• Bilingual Francophone education: a joint declaration between the Republic of Mauritius and the French Republic, funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, to develop a pilot project for bilingual and multilingual education, enhancing skills in French and Mauritian Creole.
