Higher Education: Transitional Provisions Valid Until August 31, 2027

The Higher Education (Transitional Provisions Relating to the Accreditation of Institutional Accreditation Process) Regulations 2025 will be enacted to establish a transitional provision, valid until August 31, 2027, allowing higher education institutions to develop and seek accreditation for their institutional processes.

The Higher Education Act was amended in August 2025: Article 17 was repealed and replaced with new provisions regarding the accreditation of institutional processes, in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Pending these new guidelines and accreditation by the HEC, higher education institutions will continue to seek HEC approval for the accreditation of their study programs.

The regulations specify that any program accreditation granted by the HEC to a higher education institution under the repealed Article 17 will remain valid until August 31, 2027.
