MauBank Strengthens Its Social Impact by Establishing New CSR Partnerships
MauBank is enhancing its societal commitment by officially forming new CSR partnerships with five organizations focused on key social and environmental issues, amounting to over Rs 2.9 million.
The agreements signed with ADSP, Meenatchee Home, the Trevor Huddleston Association, Well Being of Strays, and We Recycle reflect the bank's commitment to supporting entities that address the essential needs of the country, including educational inclusion, care for vulnerable elderly individuals, support for children with disabilities, animal protection, and environmental awareness.
The signing of the agreements took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at MauBank's headquarters in Ebène, with key officials from various bank units and representatives from partner organizations present.
Highlighting the importance of embedding CSR in actions that tangibly improve the lives of those affected, Issa Soormally, Deputy CEO of MauBank, stated: "At MauBank, progress takes shape when it is experienced on the ground. This morning, listening to our partners' testimonies and witnessing their daily work, it is clear that our impact is measured well beyond figures. It is seen in a child who regains confidence through tailored teaching, in an elderly person cared for attentively, in a rescued animal, or in a community committed to a more responsible future. These concrete realities give meaning to our responsibility."
According to him, the responsibility of a modern bank extends beyond economically supporting businesses.
Each NGO supported by MauBank addresses a crucial issue, and the bank's contribution finances specific projects:
-
Association of Disability Service Providers (ADSP): A specialized school welcoming children with special educational needs. MauBank's contribution will strengthen educational and therapeutic programs to improve learning conditions.
-
Meenatchee Home: A retirement home for vulnerable elderly individuals. MauBank's support will help enhance essential spaces and equipment to ensure daily care infused with respect and human connection.
-
Trevor Huddleston Association (Rodrigues): Supporting children with disabilities through education, therapy, and skills development. MauBank's contribution will expand educational and therapeutic activities for more children and their parents.
-
Well Being of Strays: An animal protection association that rescues and cares for stray or abandoned animals. MauBank will provide operational support, including a rescue vehicle used in the field.
-
We Recycle: A major player in raising awareness and sorting waste in Mauritius. MauBank will support awareness campaigns and sorting initiatives within communities.
"The role of a bank does not stop at financing the economy. It also involves strengthening the ecosystems that allow this economy to sustain itself," explains Vishuene Vydelingum, CEO of MauBank. "The organizations we support perform essential functions: they fill gaps, establish effective support mechanisms, and ensure continuity of intervention where needs are immediate. Supporting them is an investment in social stability as much as in collective performance."
Every year, MauBank supports community initiatives structured around four key issues: enhancing access to education, supporting children with disabilities, providing social and health support to vulnerable populations, and promoting sustainable environmental practices, particularly in waste reduction. This commitment aligns with the bank's ESG strategy's Social and Environmental pillars, aiming to embed social responsibility over the long term and foster lasting impact.
