ACCA Mauritius Celebrates 175 New Chartered Accountants
On October 24, 2025, the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Mauritius office honored a new generation of accountants at the New Member Ceremony 2025, celebrating the certification of 175 professionals as ACCA members. This event, held at the Royal Green Wellness Resort in Moka and sponsored by KPMG Mauritius, reinforces local financial leadership and expertise.
With this new cohort, there are now around 4,500 accountants in Mauritius, representing nearly 80% of the profession on the island. To qualify as an ACCA member, candidates must pass three levels of exams, have at least three years of professional practice, and adhere to ethical standards. Certified members can perform auditing tasks, sign accounts, and hold high-level advisory and management roles.
The ceremony included speeches from Den Surfraz FCCA, a member of the ACCA global council, Madhavi Ramdin-Clark, Head of ACCA Mauritius & New Markets, and Ashish Ramyead, Audit Partner at KPMG Mauritius. They emphasized the significance of this certification in enhancing the financial and strategic skills of the new members in a constantly evolving economic landscape.
Present in 180 countries, ACCA regularly updates its curriculum to meet the current needs of the profession. A complete overhaul of the qualification is planned for 2027 to better integrate training, expertise, and management skills.
For KPMG Mauritius, the event symbolizes a strong commitment to ethical and agile leadership. "These new members represent the future of ethical leadership. We will closely monitor their impact in shaping a better and sustainable world," stated John Chung, Managing Partner.
