Juliette Case: The DPP Opposes Anil Kumarsing Dip's Request
On November 19, 2025, former police commissioner Anil Kumarsing Dip filed a request with the Supreme Court seeking to revoke his summons in the judicial investigation into the death of Jacquelin Stève Juliette. On Monday, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) opposed his request. However, the court has put a hold on the summons of the former police chief pending a decision on the matter.
Anil Kumarsing Dip's request was reviewed on November 24 before Senior Puisne Judge Nirmala Devat. The former commissioner was represented by senior counsel Me Ivan Collendavelloo and attorney Ammanah Saya Ragavoodoo, while the DPP was assisted by Chief State Attorney Me Rasmi Camiah. The latter reiterated that the DPP opposes the former commissioner's request and requested additional time to file an affidavit. Nonetheless, she indicated that there was no objection to freezing the summons while awaiting the court's decision, a measure agreed upon by the court.
Me Ivan Collendavelloo informed the court that he is awaiting a copy of the minutes of the judicial inquiry concerning Jacquelin Stève Juliette's death, as well as the ruling made by magistrate Neela Ramdewor-Naugah of the Pamplemousses court on September 19, 2025, regarding the "Moustass Leaks." The aim is to refine his client's request and avoid relying on hearsay.
Senior Puisne Judge Nirmala Devat ordered both parties’ lawyers to confer and exchange respective documents throughout December. The case will be reviewed again on January 19, 2026.
In his request, Anil Kumarsing Dip contends that the DPP summoned him not to question him about the death of Jacquelin Stève Juliette, but in relation to the "Moustass Leaks" recording. He maintains that he is unaware of the facts or circumstances surrounding the victim's death.
