Agriterra Showcases Its Expertise at the Agricultural Fair

Agriterra invites the public to delve into a sector that has shaped the daily lives of Mauritians for centuries. From sugar production to biomass supply for green energy generation, including job opportunities and continuous innovation, the agricultural subsidiary of the Terra group will showcase its vast expertise at the Agricultural Fair 2025. The event will take place at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre (SVICC) in Pailles, from December 3 to 7, 2025. An immersive video, displays of special sugars and juices, syrup, foams, bagasse, and other derivatives will allow the public to understand, step by step, how each part of the sugarcane is transformed and reused, concretely illustrating the circular economy model led by the Terra group.

Sugarcane has always been a part of the Mauritian landscape! Over the years, this sector has evolved significantly and continues to innovate, playing a key role in today's economy. This is why Agriterra will participate in the Agricultural Fair 2025, to demonstrate how this iconic plant not only produces special sugars exported worldwide but also generates renewable energy through the valorization of its by-products, such as bagasse or molasses. In addition to sugarcane, Agriterra will present its food crops — potatoes, onions, macadamia nuts — which directly contribute to reducing the country's dependence on imports.

The event will also highlight the expertise, innovation, and modernization of the sector. Drones, precision agriculture, automation: Agriterra will show the public that the sector is no longer just traditional but also technological and connected, explains Sébastien Mamet, General Manager of Agriterra, who is excited to share this unique experience with visitors. "The Agricultural Fair is much more than just an event for us: it’s a moment of sharing with the public, an opportunity to open the curtains on our profession and show the passion that drives our teams. At Agriterra, we believe that the future of Mauritian agriculture relies on the alliance between innovation, sustainability, and knowledge transfer. We want to demonstrate that modern, responsible agriculture focused on people is not only possible but already underway," he says.

A Sector that Recruits and Attracts Youth

Various materials will present the circular economy as well as the complete production cycle, from the field to the factory, including the transformation of sugarcane by-products and the production of green energy in partnership with the Terra group. Various experts and Agriterra managers will be present to answer questions, meet institutions, partners, and professionals in the sector, and share career prospects, notably through the Terra Experience program. Visitors, especially students and recent graduates, will have the opportunity to engage directly with the teams and discover often overlooked but promising careers.

As a reminder, Mauritius is globally recognized for its special sugars, and Agriterra is one of the Mauritian leaders in special sugar production, with an international reach. The company maintains complete control over its production chain, from cultivation in the fields to finished products. Agriterra is also certified ISO 45001:2018, a certification that covers both the agricultural operations of Terragri and the industrial operations of Terra Milling, ensuring high safety standards across the entire chain.

Thus, the Agricultural Fair 2025 will be a key event this year, and Agriterra will play a central role in showing how a historic industry continues to reinvent itself to remain indispensable to the country.
