Content: The first tripartite discussions regarding salary compensation for 2026 took place on Wednesday afternoon, November 26, at Victoria House. Unions and employer representatives met to seek common ground amidst rising living costs.
Following the discussions, the Minister of Labour, Reza Uteem, addressed the press. "The employer class did not hide its concerns," he stated, emphasizing that they had also outlined their difficulties. He noted that salary compensation represents an additional cost for the government, partially funded by taxpayers.
Reza Uteem clarified that the final rate of this compensation will be aligned with the inflation rate, currently estimated at 3.7%, according to Statistics Mauritius.
