Health: Mauritius Among the First African Countries to Eliminate Measles and Rubella

Less than seven years after the significant measles outbreak in 2018 and 2019, our island has been officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having eliminated measles and rubella. Cabo Verde and Seychelles have also received this certification. According to the Regional Verification Commission for Elimination, established by the WHO, these are the first islands in Sub-Saharan Africa to eradicate these diseases.
