Distribution of Compromising Videos: A Teenager Trapped via an Online Video Game
A 14-year-old boy from Quatre-Bornes has fallen victim to online pressure, leading his father to file a complaint for a violation of the ICT Act. The father reported that his son was playing a video game on a PlayStation 4, which has an audio chat feature allowing communication with multiple players simultaneously. On the evening of October 23, the boy was targeted by an individual who threatened him through the chat and demanded the sending of compromising videos.
In fear, the teenager sent three videos via WhatsApp. In one of them, he appears nude; in the other two, he is seen attacking his younger brother. However, the young boy could not provide the exact number used by his interlocutor.
The father discovered the situation on the same day but could not identify the author of the threats. On November 24, around 9 PM, he learned that one of the videos was already circulating on Facebook, reposted by a user urging parents to be vigilant and suspecting the individual encountered online.
The police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threats and the distribution of the videos. Authorities remind parents of the importance of monitoring their children's digital activities and reporting any suspicious behavior.
