Content: A six-year-old girl was attacked at her home in Barkly Residence on Monday, November 24, by an intruder. Her 14-year-old brother, who attempted to protect her, was injured in the thigh.

According to the teenager's account collected by the police, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. While he briefly left to use the restroom, he reportedly caught sight of an unknown man entering the room where his sister was. The man allegedly grabbed the girl by the neck, prompting the brother to intervene. A struggle ensued during which the teenager was stabbed in the left thigh with a knife. His screams alerted the neighbors, and the assailant fled the scene.

The children’s father, aged 37, quickly intervened and found his children in shock. The police arrived at the scene around 11:40 a.m. to assist the victims. The teenager received medical attention and was able to return home, while the girl, traumatized and showing marks on her neck, was taken to Victoria Hospital, where she remains under observation. The Child Development Unit (CDU) has been notified as per procedures for minors who are victims of assault.

Initial investigations indicate that the man fled on foot, appearing visibly agitated. Authorities are working to identify the suspect, trace his movements, and understand how he managed to enter the home. The family is receiving medical and psychological support to help them cope with this trauma.
