In response to a query from MP Ashley Ramdass, the Minister of Health, Anil Bachoo, provided a comprehensive overview of the current methadone distribution system, which serves 8,700 beneficiaries daily. This treatment is currently administered at 23 police stations, five community health centers, 13 health centers, five methadone day care centers, seven Mediclinics, two community sites, eight hospitals, and five prisons.

Minister Bachoo emphasized that the situation requires urgent attention to address safety concerns and the refusal of certain sites for methadone distribution.
