Mauritius: Changes for Hajj 2026
Mauritius: Changes for Hajj 2026
The five days of Hajj 2026 will cost 4,340 riyals, approximately Rs 53,000 at the current exchange rate. This amount represents a decrease of about Rs 5,900 compared to the previous pilgrimage.
This reduction is one of the main outcomes of the recent mission led by Minister Shakeel Mohamed and the president of the Islamic Cultural Center in Saudi Arabia. The Mauritian quota remains fixed at 1,500 pilgrims for 2026.
However, a major change could occur starting in 2027. According to our sources, Saudi authorities are considering direct management of Hajj organization without the involvement of foreign operators, using their own system for better control. If this reform is implemented, the Mauritian quota could be increased, and pilgrims may benefit from better value for money based on the services and logistics provided. Nevertheless, Mauritius has requested that the list of registered pilgrims be respected.
In this context, the Mauritian delegation, led by Minister Shakeel Mohamed, met with Saudi Hajj Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah, who expressed his intention to visit Mauritius next year. Saudi authorities praised the establishment of the pilgrims' registration IT system by the Islamic Cultural Center and promised future technical support.
For Hajj 2026, no changes are planned regarding the area reserved for Mauritians in Mina. The same service provider, Al Manaasik Al Mashaer, has been retained. However, a new requirement has been introduced: medical certification will now be mandatory. Pilgrims must submit a certified personal record on the Nusuk-Masar platform, in accordance with Saudi government requirements.
