Mamy Ravatomanga Placed in Moka Detention Centre
Mamy Ravatomanga has been placed in a cell at the Moka Detention Centre on Friday, November 28.
Yesterday, the Financial Crimes Commission made a request for the Malagasy businessman to be held at the Beau-Bassin central prison. He faces a provisional charge of conspiracy and two charges of money laundering in the Port-Louis court.
The court heard from his treating physician, Dr. Mamode Aniffkhan Yearoo, as well as from prison assistant superintendent (ASP) Alex Casimir, who is assigned to Melrose prison. The latter provided explanations regarding the medical services available in the prison environment. At the conclusion of the hearing, Me Siddhartha Hawoldar, one of Mamy Ravatomanga's lawyers, emphasized that the treating physician had indicated in court that his client's condition was too fragile for a transfer to prison. Additionally, the patient's cardiologist deemed him "unfit to attend court." The court is expected to rule on this matter on Monday, December 1.
