Arrest of Padayachy in the Menlo Park Case: Rama Sithanen Mentioned in an Audio Recording

A new audio recording titled "What reason to give Rama?" is circulating on social media this Friday, November 28. It is an excerpt from a phone call dated October 30, 2025, between an investigator from the CCID, assigned to the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) unit, and Stéphane Adam, one of the directors of Menlo Park.

In this exchange, Stéphane Adam questions the investigator about the reasons that led to Renganaden Padayachy's arrest. The investigator mentions the name of Rama (referring to Rama Sithanen, former Governor of the Bank of Mauritius), stating that he asked why "you haven't arrested him... What reason?... What will you respond?... You know we have a family behind..." he adds.

For reference, Renganaden Padayachy was arrested on April 16, 2025, by the AML unit of the CCID, in connection with the Menlo Park case. He was provisionally charged with "conspiracy to commit a wrongful act."

When asked for a reaction by Le Défi Media Group, Rama Sithanen firmly denied any involvement: "This has absolutely nothing to do with me. It is completely fabricated."

For his part, Renganaden Padayachy denounces a "police state." "People are being arrested because they are opponents. I am very shocked but not surprised. The truth will prevail," he declared to Le Défi Media Group.
