Threats via Messages Against Aditi Boolell: Tevin Sithanen Submits Technical Report to CCID for His Defense

Tevin Sithanen, son of the former Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Rama Sithanen, was arrested on Friday, November 28, by the Anti Money Laundering Unit (AMLU) of the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) as part of an investigation into an alleged violation of the ICT Act. In his defense, he submitted a technical report prepared by Quitel Intelligence, a British company specializing in digital analyses. This report claims that there is no trace of communication between Tevin Sithanen and Aditi Boolell, according to Tevin's lawyer, Me Imtihaz Mamoojee.

Following his hearing on Friday, November 28, Tevin Sithanen was presented before the Curepipe court. He was granted conditional release a few hours later, after providing a bail of 20,000 rupees and signing a debt acknowledgment of 80,000 rupees. He is formally prohibited from contacting Aditi Boolell, the complainant in this case, and must provide a contact number where he remains available 24/7 for investigators.

His interrogation, conducted by the AMLU investigators of the Central CID, lasted more than three hours. This hearing follows a complaint filed by Aditi Boolell, the former Company Secretary of Menlo Park Ltd. During this interrogation, Tevin Sithanen categorically denied all the allegations against him. Investigators suspect him of sending a series of threatening messages to Aditi Boolell via WhatsApp on November 12, 2024—allegations he firmly rebutted.

During Tevin Sithanen's appearance at the Curepipe court, his lawyer filed two motions: one aimed at dismissing the provisional charge of Breach of ICTA against his client, and the other aimed at lifting the "Prohibition Order" issued against him. The police opposed both motions, which will be debated on December 17. The continuation of Tevin Sithanen's interrogation will take place soon at the AMLU of the CCID.
