Worrying Stability in the Number of Fatal Accidents
The statistics on fatal accidents on our roads show a worrying stability. As of November 25, the island has recorded 102 fatal accidents leading to 110 deaths, which is the same figure as last year at the same time. However, a concerning trend is emerging: the victims are increasingly elderly. Seniors now make up a growing percentage of road fatalities, indicating an increased vulnerability within this demographic. Another alarming trend is the persistence of risky behaviors. Over the past three months, authorities have reported 1,265 positive breathalyzer tests and 254 positive drug screenings among drivers.
