Fatal Accident at La-Cure Residences: Driver Returns to the Scene of the Tragedy

A reconstruction of the events surrounding the fatal accident on November 5 at La-Cure Residences, which claimed the life of 3-year-old Keyan Alfred, took place on Friday, November 28, at dawn. A team of police officers visited the site to piece together what happened. The accident also resulted in a second fatality: 43-year-old Feroz Mowlabaccus, a resident of Poudre-d'Or, who succumbed to his injuries on November 20. The driver involved tested positive for drugs.

Between 5:15 AM and 6:10 AM, officers from the Vallée-des-Prêtres station, members of the Scene of Crime Office, and units from the Metro North Divisional Support Unit and the Special Supporting Unit reenacted the events on Rue Sainte-Marie, near the bus terminal. The exercise was conducted with the driver, Kenny Lowtun, 33, who is implicated in the case and cooperated after being informed of his rights. He pointed out several key details related to the accident's progression.

The bus driver who was present at the scene that day, serving as a witness, also participated in the exercise. He indicated relevant areas that helped clarify the movements that occurred. Keyan's father, still distraught, was also invited to identify the locations where he and his child were just before the impact. The first police officer to arrive at the scene after the fatal incident later highlighted the points where he made his initial observations.

There were no incidents during the exercise. The investigation is ongoing.
