Cited for Illegal Parking: 73-Year-Old Man Accused of Taking the Wheel Lock

A 73-year-old man is accused of having removed the wheel lock placed by the police on his vehicle in Mahébourg yesterday. The driver had been penalized for illegal parking, as his vehicle was parked on the wrong side of the road.

After the wheel lock was installed, the man returned to the scene and was informed that he needed to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 at the police station. However, shortly after, the police were alerted that he had removed the wheel lock and transported both his vehicle and the immobilization device back to his home. Surveillance cameras from Safe City confirmed the events.

Based on this information, the CID obtained a warrant and went to his home, where the wheel lock was found in the backyard. The investigation is ongoing.
