PNQ: No date set for the PRB report publication; Ramgoolam discusses difficult economic situation

No date has yet been set for the publication of the Pay Research Bureau (PRB) report or for its implementation, although its preparation is at an advanced stage. This was indicated by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam in response to the Private Notice Question (PNQ) from opposition leader Joe Lesjongard during the National Assembly on Tuesday, December 2.

The Prime Minister mentioned a difficult economic situation and clarified that the financial implications of the report are not yet known. He added that the government cannot, at this stage, guarantee either a retroactive effect or a payment schedule.

According to him, over 675 meetings and 1,700 interviews have been conducted with the relevant institutions, but no date has been set for the publication.

This response prompted the opposition leader to denounce an unmet electoral commitment. Navin Ramgoolam reminded that his priority remains the recovery of the economy, while Mauritius is still under the watch of international organizations such as Moody’s.
