Chagos: Gavin Glover Denies Priti Patel's Accusations
"False!" Gavin Glover refutes Priti Patel's allegations regarding the Chagos survey.
Attorney General Gavin Glover has strongly denied the claims made by Priti Patel, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, regarding the survey process related to the Chagos agreement.
In a letter to the International Relations and Defence Committee, Priti Patel alleges that Mauritian authorities are attempting to influence the conduct of the process.
Gavin Glover categorically rejects these accusations, asserting that the Mauritian government is merely providing technical assistance to Chagossians in filling out the form after the committee published the document.
The purpose of the survey is to gather the opinions of Chagossians so that the treaty on Chagos sovereignty can subsequently be voted on by Parliament.
Additionally, the Attorney General accuses some Chagossians residing in the UK of trying to influence the process.
