Nomination: Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum Appointed Head of the ICTA

Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum has recently been appointed as the head of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA). A former Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, he has made his priorities clear: to strengthen cybersecurity and improve equity in the quality of services provided to Mauritians.

In light of the rapid evolution of technology, he believes it is urgent to adapt the legal framework. "With new threats emerging every day, we must revise our laws as necessary to better protect citizens from cyberattacks," he emphasizes.

The new president of the ICTA also highlights the persistent disparities in connectivity across Mauritius. "It is unacceptable to have a two-speed treatment. Some regions enjoy a stable network, while others still struggle to access a proper connection," he laments.

According to him, telecom operators have a crucial role to play. "Their mission cannot solely be about profit. They must invest to provide better service and ensure equitable connection quality for all Mauritians," insists Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum.
