International Day of Persons with Disabilities: The Prime Minister Advocates for a 100% Inclusive Society
"Inclusion is not a choice, but a right. We are committed to making society 100% inclusive." This statement was made by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam on Wednesday, December 3, during a ceremony held at MGI in Moka for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
According to the latest figures from Statistics Mauritius, there are 84,500 people with disabilities in Mauritius, which represents 6.8% of the population.
For the head of government, every Mauritian has the responsibility to ensure that everyone receives equal treatment and can live with dignity.
