Driver Involved in Fatal Accident that Caused Two Deaths on Black River Road Released on Bail

Jean Denis La Beauté, the driver of the bus involved in the tragic accident on Black River Road that claimed the lives of 25-year-old Laeticia Philibert Ramkalawon on November 8 and German tourist Alina Steiner, was released on bail this Wednesday at the Bambous court. He paid a total of Rs 100,000 in bail to regain his freedom.

The Morne resident was driving a bus carrying hotel workers when he collided with the car occupied by the German couple, ultimately crashing into a tree. He does not possess a driver's license. Laeticia Philibert Ramkalawon, severely injured, succumbed to her injuries the following day, while the German tourist passed away on November 18.

As a reminder, the accident, involving a contractual bus transporting hotel employees, occurred following a collision with a car. This tragedy resulted in the death of Laeticia Philibert Ramkalawon, a mother of an 8-month-old baby, and left over fifteen others injured, including two German tourists.
