[Evening News]: "TWO ARRESTS IN A 470 MILLION LOAN CASE"
On the agenda for Wednesday, December 3, 2025:
• A case with potential repercussions for Mauritius's financial sector. Following the arrest yesterday of Sanjiv Ramdanee, the former CEO of SBM, Premchand Mungur has been apprehended by the Financial Crimes Commission. Both are suspected of being involved in a conspiracy regarding a loan of 470 million rupees. In the meantime, former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth condemns the arrest as "purely political" targeting his brother-in-law and promises to reveal more details.
• International Day of Persons with Disabilities — 84,000 Mauritians affected. The government is making multiple commitments and discussing a substantial reform of allowances, despite tight budget margins. Navin Ramgoolam, Paul Bérenger, and other executive figures promise a more inclusive society.
• Tripartite discussions — final figures are on the table. December 1 marked the end of submissions for wage compensation. Business Mauritius has submitted its proposals: the consultative phase is over, and now the amount needs to be determined. This will be a point to follow in this news segment.
• Public service — anger and uncertainties. The PRB report is said to be "at an advanced stage," but there is still no publication date. This wait is considered unbearable by the Government Services Employees Association. We will welcome unionist Radhakrishna Sadien in the studio to discuss these issues.
• The investigation is progressing after the accident that claimed two lives in Morne. The bus driver involved has been granted conditional release upon posting a substantial bail. Without a license, he faces two provisional charges of dangerous driving resulting in death.
• Internationally, the war in Ukraine shows no signs of resolution—fruitless summit. In Moscow, the meeting between Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoy Witkoff yielded no compromise regarding the occupied territories in Ukraine, according to Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov.
