Parliament: Vieux-Grand-Port Civil Status Office to Reopen in March 2026

In response to MP Ashley Ramdass's inquiry about the prolonged closure of the Vieux-Grand-Port civil status office, the Prime Minister stated that this office, which opened in December 1984, operated twice a week due to low demand. It was closed in July 2013, forcing residents of nearby areas to use other offices, namely in Mahébourg, Rose-Belle, Plaine-Magnien, and Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche. The Mahébourg office is open five days a week.
