The Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (Adsu) has intensified its operations across the island to target major drug dealers. On Tuesday, they apprehended two women.
In Résidence Bethléem, Rose-Belle, Rujkaleea Soorma, 39, was closely monitored by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sooknah and Sergeant Vydelingum. She had just been released from prison after a previous drug conviction when she was once again reported for drug trafficking.
During the operation, she was found in possession of 20 doses of heroin, 17 doses of synthetic drugs, and Rs 16,200 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Police also seized several paraphernalia, including 18 pre-cut aluminum sheets for packaging drugs and a razor blade with heroin residues. Rujkaleea Soorma has been detained and was sent back to prison on Wednesday.
In the eastern part of the island, Adsu officers from Quartier-Militaire made significant arrests as well. During a crackdown operation in Bonne-Veine, they apprehended Reezwana Nathalia Perrine, 26, suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. A search confirmed their suspicions: the officers seized 127 doses of synthetic drugs, 203 pieces of "papie tranpe simik" (paper soaked in drug solution), a package containing 16.64 grams of synthetic drugs, and Rs 12,350 in cash. The total street value of the narcotics is estimated at Rs 156,450.
The young woman has been placed in police custody.
