The Plastic Reversal

There are decisions that betray a lack of vision. Then there are those that reveal a lack of backbone. The government's choice to once again allow non-biodegradable plastic cups, bowls, and containers – albeit "for a year" – falls into the latter category. Barely sixteen days after approving a roadmap for a "Plastic Pollution-Free Mauritius", the executive has done exactly the opposite: reopening the door to plastic waste.
