In Australia: TikTok is set to block accounts of users under 16

The platform TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, announced on Friday, December 5, that it will block the accounts of users under 16 years old in Australia to comply with the upcoming ban on social media for younger individuals in the country, effective December 10.

"Teenagers with existing accounts will be notified that they will no longer be able to use their accounts, which will become inactive" on the day the new regulation takes effect.
