Labor Market: One in Two Employees Earns Less Than Rs 25,000 Per Month

At the request of trade unions, which aim to better understand income distribution and clarify their demands ahead of the Tripartite Technical Committee meeting, Statistics Mauritius has provided data on the salary structure of workers, covering both the private and public sectors.

The figures reveal that the majority of employees fall within the lower income brackets. This year, approximately 244,600 individuals earn less than Rs 25,000 per month.
