Enhanced Collaboration Between ARR and AML: Concrete Progress for Travelers and the New Runway Project

The collaboration between the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (ARR) and Airports of Mauritius Ltd (AML) has reached a new milestone. A working session held on December 5 between Chief Commissioner Franceau Grandcourt and AML and ATOL CEO Lormus Bundhoo reviewed two major aspects: the immediate improvement of passenger comfort for flights to Rodrigues and the advancement of the strategic new runway project at Plaine Corail.

AML presented detailed technical advancements regarding the future runway, outlining key next steps. This project, seen as a vital driver for Rodrigues' economic future, is expected to accommodate larger aircraft, enhance operational efficiency, and improve connectivity. It is also viewed as a catalyst for tourism development, logistics reliability for goods, and the creation of indirect jobs.

The delegation then toured the departure terminal for Rodrigues at SSR Airport. Following this inspection, an immediate measure was confirmed: passengers will soon be able to be dropped off closer to the terminal. This decision, set to be implemented in the coming weeks, aims to significantly enhance accessibility and comfort for travelers from Rodrigues and Mauritius using this route.

Through these joint initiatives, AML reaffirms its commitment to support the overall development of Rodrigues while optimizing airport services for passengers.
