International Anti-Corruption Day: FCC Calls for Action to Preserve Mauritius' Financial Integrity
International Anti-Corruption Day: The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) is launching a week of reflection, dialogue, and mobilization to raise awareness among the population about a crucial issue: the fight against corruption. This campaign is part of the International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated annually on December 9th. The program includes national workshops aimed at key stakeholders and youth, as well as a mission to Rodrigues where various awareness initiatives will be conducted.
The objective is clear: mobilize the entire population to preserve Mauritius' financial integrity and promote a culture of good governance! Determined to tirelessly combat financial crimes and work towards a more equitable and just society, the FCC issues a strong call: it is through collective mobilization that we can strengthen integrity, protect the public interest, and build a Mauritius where transparency and justice remain essential foundations, emphasized Sanjay Dawoodarry, Acting Director General of the FCC.
"Our commitment goes beyond the fight against financial crime: it embodies a vision of a country where transparency guides every decision, where responsibility is shared at all levels, and where justice is the cornerstone of public action. By reinforcing this dynamic, we also strengthen trust, social cohesion, and Mauritius' ability to face today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Together, with rigor, integrity, and determination, we will make our Nation a model of security, equity, and resilience," he added.

On Tuesday, December 9th, a national workshop themed "Fighting Corruption and Other Financial Crimes, Advancing Social Justice" will bring together key stakeholders, with Professor Thuli Madonsela as the guest of honor. A major figure of public integrity in South Africa and the fight against corruption, she has served as the Public Protector, a key role in investigating allegations of misgovernance and corruption to ensure that public institutions act in accordance with the law and citizens' rights. Her highly symbolic visit underscores a strong commitment to transparency, social justice, and the fight against abuses of power.
Wednesday, December 10th will focus on the youth with a Youth Forum themed "Shaping the Next Chapter in Anti-Corruption Efforts: Engaging the Youth in the Fight Against Corruption and Other Financial Crimes."
On Friday, December 12th, a delegation from the FCC will visit Rodrigues to carry out awareness activities and meet with local institutions. The FCC has an office there, where residents can directly report cases of corruption or financial crimes.
Finally, on Saturday, December 13th, a day of exchanges, listening, and awareness will be organized at the Port Mathurin market to engage with local citizens about the importance of integrity. "We warmly invite the public, especially the youth, and public and private institutions to participate. The fight against corruption can only be effective if we move forward united, responsible, and committed," concluded the members of the Commission.
