Changes in the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Board

The Board of Directors of the Economic Development Board (EDB) is undergoing a minor reshuffle. Kishore Pertab, Senior Advisor in Policy & Strategy attached to the office of Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger, is joining the board, while Eric Ng, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Finance, is expected to leave.

A lawyer registered with the bar since the late 1990s, Kishore Pertab has built a diverse career combining law and public service.

This change reflects strategic adjustments within the government. The departure of Eric Ng, an expert in public finance, may be part of a rotation of positions to balance political and technical influences.

Established in 2017 to succeed the Board of Investment, the EDB is the main government agency responsible for strategic economic planning. It promotes Mauritius as an attractive investment hub for international companies by facilitating entry into sectors such as financial services, technology, and tourism. The EDB supports investors from their initial inquiries, providing a one-stop shop for approvals, tax incentives, and regional partnerships. Sanjay Bhunjun has been leading the agency since February 2025. It is also worth noting that the EDB is in search of a Chief Operating Officer, with a call for applications launched on December 1st.
