At La Cure Residence: Two Abandoned Children Found Outside Their Father's Former Home
At La Cure Residence: Two children abandoned outside their father's former home.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, two young boys, aged 5 and 6, were discovered alone on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6, at La Cure Residence, Port-Louis, under troubling circumstances. The children arrived in a brown taxi, which was paid for by their mother for a ride from the East of the country, with instructions to drop them off at their father’s house.
Upon arrival, the driver found that the father’s house was locked and no one was there to welcome the children. The mother remained unreachable by phone. Not knowing what to do, the taxi driver left the two boys and their luggage at a bus stop near La Cure.
Local residents noted that a passenger in the taxi had requested that the children be handed over to someone named “Ti Robert,” who was supposed to be their father. However, he no longer lives in the area. The police managed to contact him by phone; he lives in Curepipe and stated that the children should be entrusted to their mother. Attempts to reach her have been unsuccessful.
The children were taken into custody by the police and transferred to Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital, where they were examined and secured. According to authorities, the two boys were identified by local residents, as they had previously lived in the area.
The vehicle involved, a Toyota, registered in June 2025, was identified by the police. The driver and the passenger have been traced using Safe City surveillance cameras and will be questioned as part of the investigation into child abandonment. Police are trying to determine the exact reasons for this abandonment and if others may be involved.
