MCB Mauritius Legends: A Remarkable Finale at the Legendary Golf Course
Constance Belle Mare Plage once again hosted a major golfing event with the MCB Mauritius Legends, the final stage of the 2025 Legends Tour season. From December 4 to 9, the elite of senior professional golf gathered at the Legend Golf Course, a par 72 course designed by Hugh Baiocchi, known for its technical challenges and the pristine beauty of its surroundings.
A 2025 Edition Marked by a Spectacular Conclusion
Bringing together the biggest names in professional golf over the age of 50, the MCB Mauritius Legends 2025 did not disappoint, providing an intense and thrilling competition right up to the final putt.
While the John Jacobs Trophy, awarded to the golfer leading the Order of Merit, was already secured by Australian Scott Hend, thanks to his two victories and four Top 5 finishes, the tournament victory went to Englishman Greg Owen. He clinched the title with an impressive score of -18 after an intense final that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, finishing just one stroke ahead of Jeev Milkha Singh and Darren Fichardt, resulting in an exceptionally intense conclusion. His memorable performance was met with applause from an enthusiastic crowd.
Throughout the tournament, the winner was supported by Mauritian caddy Sawan Agnoo, who received a check for Rs 25,000 in recognition of his invaluable assistance.
The champion stated: "Winning here in Mauritius, on such a beautiful course as the Legend, is a very special moment. The tournament was incredibly intense, the crowd was simply amazing, and I want to thank Constance Belle Mare Plage and MCB for this unforgettable week. I am truly proud to add my name to the list of champions of the MCB Mauritius Legends."
During this edition, the Barry Lane Rookie of the Year award was presented to Darren Fichardt, a well-deserved tribute to Barry Lane, a pillar of European golf, who sadly passed away in 2022. An exemplary collaboration dedicated to excellence.
The event, a result of a historic partnership between Constance Hotels & Resorts, MCB, and the Legends Tour, reaffirms the shared ambition to position Mauritius as a leading international sports destination.
Jean-Jacques Vallet, CEO of Constance Hospitality, emphasizes: "Hosting the Legends Tour final is always an honor, but this 2025 edition will be particularly memorable. The intensity of the game, the shared passion, and the unique atmosphere of the Legend Golf Course created a remarkable spectacle. We are proud, alongside our partners, to provide an exceptional setting for these champions."
Jean Michel Ng Tseung, CEO of the MCB group, adds: "The MCB Mauritius Legends is much more than a tournament: it is a showcase of Mauritian excellence. This edition reaffirms the quality of our partnership and Mauritius's capability to host large international events. Congratulations to the champion and all participants."
Phil Harrison, CEO of the Legends Tour, concludes: "Mauritius is an exceptional golf destination, and Constance Belle Mare Plage is one of its jewels. Every year, players eagerly await this final, and the 2025 edition has exceeded all expectations."
