Tourism: 128,903 Visitors in November… Steady Increase in Arrivals Since April

In November 2025, the total number of visitors reached 128,903, marking an increase of 5,799 people (+4.7%) compared to November 2024 when the country recorded 123,104 arrivals.

From January to November 2025, Mauritius welcomed 1,274,810 tourists, which is 46,841 more visitors (+3.8%) than during the same period in 2024. These figures come from the latest report published by Statistics Mauritius on Tuesday. This also means that the destination is only 125,190 visitors away from reaching the symbolic milestone of 1.4 million tourists.

For comparison, in December 2024, the country received over 150,000 visitors.

This has fueled optimism from the Minister of Tourism, Richard Duval, who stated: "It is increasingly evident that we will surpass the 1.4 million tourist mark this year. I take pride in the fact that the country is achieving such a record in my first year leading this ministry."

The minister also emphasized that this achievement is particularly significant given the challenges faced in the first quarter: "The numbers weren't good in January, February, and March. My team and I faced a lot of criticism. Fortunately, the situation improved in April. What’s even more remarkable is that we have been recording month-on-month increases since then."

Richard Duval added that this record comes despite a downturn in the cruise sector and declines in some traditional markets—specifically France, the UK, and Germany.

"The key takeaway is that other markets have either consolidated or grown. For instance, the Indian market has increased by 37% between January and November. Without this diversification, such performance would have been impossible."

Another positive update for the sector is the latest statistics from the Bank of Mauritius regarding tourism revenues for October 2025. The country generated Rs 10.131 billion during this month.

From January to October, total revenues amount to Rs 81.184 billion. Only Rs 18.9 billion remains to reach the historic record of Rs 100 billion.

"I am very confident. This record will be achieved," the minister asserts.
