National Assembly: A Question from Stéphanie Anquetil to Arianne Navarre-Marie Sparks Lively Exchanges

The National Assembly witnessed heated exchanges on Tuesday following a question posed by MP Stéphanie Anquetil to the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare regarding the Baie-du-Tombeau Child Day Care Centre.

The Labour MP claimed that the management of the centre had been entrusted to an Assistant Child Programme Officer "responsible for major disruptions," which immediately sparked reactions within the assembly.

Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the MMM, Paul Bérenger, then raised a point of order.

The Speaker, Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra, had to intervene several times, stating: "No hearsay evidence," and further added:

"Let me give you a friendly piece of advice, as a mother… It all depends on what your real goal is in asking this question. Here, we don’t have the opposition. You are in the same government. It depends on your objective. I also see a little bit! No one is fooled."
