Antananarivo: 18-Month-Old Baby Suffocates on Lychee

A tragic incident occurred in Antananarivo, where an 18-month-old baby died after choking on a lychee at the CSB2 in Ambohimanarina. At the time of the incident, the child was alone with an 18-year-old babysitter, and the events unfolded very quickly, according to witnesses. According to Dr. Heritiana Rakotoarivony, as cited by Newsmada.com, the child was already deceased upon arrival at the hospital. The family had initially attempted to transfer the child to a private clinic, but unfortunately, it was too late to prevent the tragedy.

Following the incident, the parents went to the police station in the sixth district with the babysitter, who was detained for questioning. No family member has filed a complaint, but the criminal investigation unit is monitoring the case. The doctor emphasized the importance of constant vigilance and careful actions to prevent such domestic accidents among young children.
