Sheena Buleeram Femicide: Supreme Court Sentences Mamode Umaiir Nubbeebuccus to Life Imprisonment

The Supreme Court delivered one of its sternest judgments in recent years on Wednesday, December 10, in the case of the femicide of Ganeshwaree Buleeram, known as Sheena. Her ex-husband, Mamode Umaiir Nubbeebuccus, who was 28 years old at the time of the crime, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to premeditated murder. Judge Mehdi Manrakhan, presiding in the Criminal Court, described this case as "one of the most horrendous, gruesome, and cold-blooded crimes."
