PMQT: Prisons: 2,848 Inmates, Including 359 Living with HIV

Deputy Arvin Babajee requested clarification from Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam regarding the prison population and the care provided for inmates living with HIV. Information provided by the Commissioner of Prisons indicates that, as of December 4, 2025, the prison system housed 2,848 inmates across its facilities. Among them, 214 are women, placed in dedicated units. The number of inmates living with HIV stands at 359.
